you just picked up a lay down

today just happens to be your lucky day
though you don’t know it yet
you should buy a lottery ticket
or try a spin at roulette
all your stars above just aligned
and a bright one fell from the sky
you should make a wish on it darlin’
you’re about to give love a try

    did you just take all
    your good friends’ money
at a friendly game of horseshoes?
did you find a four leaf clover honey
    ‘stead a gettin’ bad news?
don’t you think that this is kinda funny
when you should be cryin’ the blues?
you just picked up a lay down baby
there’s no way that you can lose

don’t let a black cat cross your path
don’t walk under any ladders
you might not be superstitious
but good luck is all that matters
maybe you lost at love before
but you never met someone like me
well i’m as good as it’s gonna get
and you can play all day for free

oh, cross yourself or knock on wood
but your fate is already sealed
i’ll just peer into my crystal ball
and all shall be revealed
this ain’t no hocus pocus
or trick in a magic show
i’m the real deal baby
someone you should know

army of architects

wind and rain, will drag you down
and leave you helpless on the ground
and though you stand and face the weather
it’s gonna take an army of architects
army of architects, army of architects
to put this back together

misguided hate can crack the sky
and dash all hope as days go by
dust floats down light as a feather
it’s gonna take an army of architects
army of architects, army of architects
to put this back together

the waves may swallow all they can
where once were homes nothing stands
in an instant dreams untethered
it’s gonna take an army of architects
army of architects, army of architects
to put this back together

we won’t forget, and we’ll carry on
we will rebuild, and we will stand strong
if we do our part things will only get better
only get better

and with an army of architects
an army of architects, an army of architects
we’ll put this back together

nothin’ ‘bout me

i know what you like in your coffee
i know what you take in your tea
i know what makes your motor run babe
and when we’re gonna disagree
i know where you’re going day or night
and who you are going to see
so why after all these years, boy
you still don’t know nothin’ ‘bout me

nothin’ ‘bout me, nothin’ ‘bout me
so why after all these years, boy
you still don’t know nothin’ ‘bout me

i know what you like to read, boy
what movies you like to see
i know what music you listen too
and what you watch on tv
i know your favourite watering holes
and the friends that you go there to meet
so why after all of these years, boy
you still don’t know nothin’ bout me

your life is so much better than mine

all day long i’m eking out a living
while you’re at home in bed
all taking and no giving
i get back late and find you’re not around
you’re hangin’ with the guys
and nowhere to be found
sometimes i think i’ll leave ya
but then i always stay
it just keeps gettin’ harder
to carry on this way

    your life    (your life)
    your life    (your life)
your life is so much better than mine
    your life    (your life)
    your life    (your life)
your life is so much better than mine

you used to take all night
when we were having fun
but now you’re always finished
before i’ve begun
i’m begging you for mercy
but you are fast asleep
i’m staring at the ceiling
wide awake and counting sheep
sometimes i think i’ll quit ya
but then i change my mind
you’d better listen to me
i’ve got an axe to grind

hey there baby what’s wrong with this picture
it’s not about you, it’s all about the mixture
i think you’ve lost your focus
and you forgot the plan

 this woman

     this woman, loves that man
     not ‘cause she wants to
     not ‘cause she can
     this woman, oh this woman
     loves that man

 don’t go to nightclubs
 don’t hang ‘round in bars
 he don’t drink whiskey
 smoke ybor cigars
 and when i’m lonely
i call him on the phone
 i say now honey
 won’t you come home

 he don’t spend his paycheck
 on ponies or fights
he don’t waste his time stayin’
 out late at night
 i don’t need diamonds
 roses or gold
 when he gives me lovin’
i’m in out of the cold

     this woman, loves that man
     not ‘cause she needs to
     not ‘cause she can
     this woman, oh this woman
loves that man, loves that man

my to do list

i keep putting things off
i know i’m lazy and i just don’t care
but there’s one thing that i haven’t missed
i put you on my to do list

ooh you make me feel so good
you make me feel so fine
    and when you kiss me
    i know i’ve been kissed
that’s why i’m putting you on my to do list

i have to write things down
cuz if i don’t then i’ll forget my head
but i’ll remember if you insist
to put you on my to do list

i don’t care if it’s day or night
i don’t care if you’re wrong or right
i don’t care if you pick a fight
i’m not lettin’ you outta my sight

i don’t care if we work or play
i don’t care if we go or stay
i don’t care if you’re old and gray
i ain’t  letting you get away

my work keeps piling up
and i’m not getting anything done
cuz you’ve got something i can’t resist
so i’ll be keeping you on my to do list

ooh you make me feel good
you make me feel fine
and when you kiss me
i know i’ve been kissed

that's why i'm putting you on my to do list

i’m still here

i’m still here, after all that we’ve been through
i’m still here since the day we said i do

i’m still here, loving you with my whole heart
i’m still here, nothing can ever keep us apart

and with each passing year, it’s ever so clear
you’ve got nothing to fear, cuz i’m still here

you’re still there, beside me every night
you’re still there, making everything alright

i know that you care, we’ve got something so rare
i’m not going anywhere, cuz you’re still there

i’m still here, for ever and a day
i’m still here and right here is where i’ll stay
i’m still here and right here is where i’ll stay

worth the wait

you are wearing me out
i just can’t keep up with you
you’ve been running all over town
playing me for a fool
you want everything
and you want it now
but you don’t know when
and you don’t know how
to slow it down to a steady pace
you’d better watch out
before it’s too late
and i’m telling you

wait for it, wait for it
unpack your bags and stay for it
wait for it, wait for it
    get down on your knees
    and pray for it
wait for it, wait for it
    if it’s worth having
    then it’s worth the wait

you’re getting too old for this
you’re not thinking with your head
people are talking behind our backs
the rumours are starting to spread
you need to be patient
and let things ride
you need to know
i’m on your side
i don’t know how long this can go on
if you don’t catch your breath
then i’ll be gone and i’m telling you

you are wearing me out
i just can’t keep up with you
you’ve been running all over town
playing me for a fool
you want everything and you want it now
but you don’t know when
and you don’t know how
to slow it down to a steady pace
you’d better watch out
before it’s too late and i’m telling you

miss my hummer

i cancelled my subscriptions
to my favourite magazines
take the bus instead of the car
i’m patching all the holes
in my faded blue jeans
it’s really paying off so far

i’ve switched out all the light bulbs
in every room
now i can’t see worth heli
i compost, recycle and dust my broom
get my water out back from a well

i’m going green, i’m going green
saving the planet if you know what i mean
been doin’ without since late last summer
and i really miss my hummer

i loved me a man just as true as could be
i thought it would last for all time
but he woke up, and left me
in our brand new hum vee
now i’m conserving my strength and my mind

you gotta’ take control of your life
if one day you become an ex wife
you gotta do more with less
it’s better i guess than goin’ under the knife

i’m going green, i’m going green
livin’ a lie if you know what i mean
been sleepin’ alone since late last summer
and i really miss my hummer
i really miss my hummer
i really really miss my hummer

tell me where it hurts

i’m the kind of girl who looks after herself
not a pretty thing that you keep on your shelf
i’m all grown up but i’m young at heart
and i can finish anything i start
i’ve been around and learned a thing or two
and now i’m ready to look after you

tell me that you miss me, i’ll write you a letter
tell me that you’re cold, i’ll knit you a sweater
tell me what you need, i’ll be your go getter
tell me where it hurts, and i’ll make it all better

i can feel your pulse and let you know
if it’s too fast or if it’s too slow
my little black bag is full of tricks
ain’t nothin’ that’s broke i can’t fix
i can touch your head to see if it’s hot
stick out your tongue let’s see what you’ve got

all those other girls just want one thing
a guy with money who can buy them everything
i don’t need all that fancy stuff
having you is more than enough
you won’t need a doctor when i’m through
but you’ll be addicted to what i can do

landmarks

fate drew a line and i wandered past
all the landmarks in my life
never knowing where to turn
daughter, sister, mother, wife
daughter, sister, mother, wife

fate threw a curve and i ducked aside
watched it weave and hurry by
never knowing when to run
laugh, love, learn, cry
laugh, love, learn, cry

i wondered off that winding road
never noticed what went wrong
found you waiting there for me
touch, feel, ache, long
touch, feel ache, long

i had no plan, to see me through
i didn’t count, on loving you
you had a plan, you didn’t see
you didn’t count on loving me

well love’s a journey we’re all on
a precious gift we’re to keep
close to hearts that matter most
wake, search, find, sleep
wake, search, find, sleep

all songs written by kimberlee aaron and michael racioppa

just what you need

you say that you’re lonely
though you’re not alone
you say that this feeling
is all you’ve ever known
you say that you’re empty
and lately it’s grown
that you can’t feel
with a heart made of stone

i can’t be your angel, dressed in white
i can’t be your idol drenched in light
i can’t be your saviour, but i might be
    just what  you need

a sadness surrounds you
and it makes your heart ache
no mask can protect you
your smile you can’t fake
you’re so used to the stillness
from a trance you can’t wake
so if you need someone to own you
i’m a claim you can stake

your kid gloves

i feel like getting a tattoo
try living closer to the edge
i’ve got a brand new point of view
standing up here on this ledge

i think you fit my new routine
if you’ll just stay a little while
cuz you’re the best that i have seen
and i like the way you smile

(oh) excuse me if i’m being rude
it kinda goes with my new attitude
i want a different kind of love
so take off your kid gloves

i see you’re starting to unwind
and step outside your comfort zone
i’m hoping that you’re more my kind
and i won’t end up on my own

show me your best stuff
and when you think i’ve had enough
treat me a little rough
